There&amp;#39;s quite a bit of research published in educational journals about the connection between self-regulation and performance in virtual environments. And it makes sense that we can enhance this from a design perspective. Most metacognitive thinkers regularly utilize self regulation strategies to maintain focus on a lesson, stay motivated, verify comprehension on an on-going basis, and exercise self reinforcement. A great way to do this is including &amp;quot;real life scenarios&amp;quot; that the user can answer questions regarding using multiple choice, true/false options etc. as well as tests or quizzes after each lesson etc.) This would be a great way to motivate the learner as well as capture and maintain their attention.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/839979988539109204/4586454008804604370/comments/default/7884598793104984529'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/839979988539109204/4586454008804604370/comments/default/7884598793104984529'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://blog.integratedlearningservices.com/2010/07/7-techniques-to-capture-attention-in.html?showComment=1284859688346#c7884598793104984529' title=''/><author><name>Audrea</name><uri>http://travelingtechnicaltrainer.blogspot.com/</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://blog.integratedlearningservices.com/2010/07/7-techniques-to-capture-attention-in.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839979988539109204.post-4586454008804604370' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/839979988539109204/posts/default/4586454008804604370' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1434246805'/></entry></feed>
